Custer's Last Stand-In

This is about the danger of hubris, or of believing your own press releases. Framed in a window in the Oval Office we see a famous war “hero” who dreamt of being president, whose reflection is a president (who actually played Custer in a grossly fictionalized movie) who dreamt of being a war hero. In the long view of legitimate history, both were destined by their hubris to suffer comparisons to the greatest self-delusional leader of our times, Herr Hitler, who they in effect become, in the long view….
